I love symfony (aka the PHP Symfony Framework) for the structure it brings to application development. Finally all the patterns known from e.g. the JAVA world are accessible (and required) in a PHP environment. I presume, this will make future web applications based on it a lot more stable, error prone and enhanceable.
Another aspect is [...]

I am currently looking into putting some of functionality from various symfony (you probably heard about the really good and already famous symfony-project PHP Framework) projects into plugins for easier reuse. I stumbled upon a recent blog entry about the Plugin Developers Day held in IRC Chat. There is a link to the IRC log [...]

Pidgin is a multi-protocol chat client that I use basically for my MSN contacts only. It did its job pretty well so far. Until some weeks ago after an update it stopped working. I never really figured out what the problem is as I merely use Skype, but now needed to contact some people using [...]

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 8.04 I am running Firefox in its latest version 3. At the beginning it was the beta 5, in between RC2 and now the final version. At the beginning I found some issues with some websites, for example the typo3 backend and simply ignored it and used Opera instead. But it [...]

Newspapers as a medium for news and advertising have a long history and challenged some competition from Radio, TV and now the internet. All had and have their effect on circulation, which is itself affecting the amount of money Publishers are making with advertising and their general health. So I had a glance on different [...]

What I tried so far did not work out. It’s a couple of weeks ago that I switched back to normal nutrition and since than the Candida returned. Again, I still don’t feel bad, but it simply annoys me that I know it does not need to be that way.

My interest in that whole gene research had been restarted by the 23andme offering to analyse your genes. Initially I followed some other Bloggers that were reporting about their test results. Andrew drags the whole thing onto a completely new level in his blog Buzzyeah, as he is going to share his genome with you, [...]

In his Buzzyeah blog Andrew Meyer describes his 23andme experience from gathering the money to the final results. He finally got the kit sent and the linked blog entry describes and shows his tube filling with Saliva experience. And comes up with a contest. On one hand, I don’t really think that the time you [...]

It has become a bit like in Gattaca (awesome movie with Jude Law, Ethan Hawk, Uma Thurman), where a mans/womans profession is not longer examined by interviews or skill tests, but examination of their gene code. A young man, conceived the natural way, is genetically of poorer results than “improved” people, but still manages to [...]
